Healthy Dartmouth combats opioids, anxiety, bullying

Healthy Dartmouth will be presenting a series of events in the upcoming months. Healthy Dartmouth brings together various local organizations to share thoughts and ideas on how to foster a better, safer, healthier community.

“A Race to Nowhere” will be screened at the Dartmouth High School auditorium on March 7 from 6 - 8 p.m. Hosted by Superintendent Dr. Bonny Gifford, the film examines America's achievement culture and the stress placed upon today's youth to excel.

On March 9, the Dartmouth Opiate Task Force will discuss the rise of opiate abuse on the South Coast. The meeting will be held in Town Hall room 305 from 6:15 - 8 p.m.

Youth advocate Jen Cabral will be joined by Dartmouth High staff to discuss the impact stress and anxiety on students on March 14. This event will be held in the Dartmouth High School Media Center from 6 - 8 p.m.

On April 4, parents will have the opportunity to learn about the dangers of social media. This event will be held in the Dartmouth High Media Center from 6 - 8 p.m. where Cabral will be joined by Detective Kyle Costa.

The film “Most Likely to Succeed” will be screened at the Dartmouth High School auditorium on May 5 from 6 - 8 p.m. Hosted by Superintendent Dr. Bonny Gifford, this film reimagines what students and teachers are capable of accomplishing.

The final event of the series features bullying and cyberbullying. Held on May 16 in the Dartmouth High Media Center from 6 - 8 p.m., the impact of bullying on youth will be discussed.
