Helfand Farm to host Community Gardening Day

Helfand Farm Community Gardens will host a gardening event on May 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Community Gardening Day is free and open to the public and will feature gardening workshops and a seedling sale.

At 10 a.m., Ashley Brister of Round the Bend Farm will host a workshop on starting your own vegetable garden.

Seedlings from local growers, including heirloom tomato seedlings from 24K Heirloom Tomatoes and Friends, will be available for sale.

Helfand, located at a historic farm, offers 10-by-20-foot rental plots on its 4 acres of land. Plots can be rented there annually for $55. A 10-by-10-foot half plot can be rented for $30.

The sign for Helfand Farm is just north of 318 Chase Road.
