Herbert V. King, Jr., 70, of North Dartmouth died Monday June 15 at Royal Taber Street Nursing Home after a long illness. He was the husband of Carol N. (Langelier) King.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Herbert V. and Margaret (Smith) King, he lived in North Dartmouth most of his life.
Mr. King was formerly employed at R.A. Mitchell Company for 30 years until his retirement.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, bird watching, gardening, NASCAR, the New England Patriots, the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Bruins, and boxing.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Debbie Gonsalves and her husband Brian and Stacie King and her fiancé Ed Rhilinger, all of North Dartmouth; a sister, Muriel Oliveira and her husband Donald of Dartmouth; three grandchildren, Amanda Gonsalves, Kaylee King, and Lexie Rhilinger; and a nephew.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, June 19 at 10 a.m. in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours were Thursday, June 18.
