Here’s what the Council on Aging has planned for June
June is almost here and in-person events are returning to the Dartmouth Council on Aging. Here’s what’s coming up next month.
Music on the lawn
“Torch Song’’ will be performed at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 9. Those attending are asked to bring a lawn chair.
Tickets are on sale for one day only, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, June 4 outside the center. Cost is $5.
Veteran’s corner returns
Matt Brouillette, Dartmouth’s veterans service officer, will be available at 9 a.m. the first Friday of the month for camaraderie and to discuss any veteran-related concerns you may have. Call the center at (508) 999-4717 to pre-register.
Yack it up
Travel down memory lane together.
Come and chat about fun experiences and share personal stories to foster new connections and friendships.
This informal group will meet at 10 a.m. on Fridays. Pre-registration is required.
A paint party will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 23 at the center. Cost is $10. Call the center to preregister.
Hypnosis to help reduce anxiety
As everyone emerges from their Covid cocoons, Hypnosis with Lorraine will feature discussions on how hypnosis can help people reduce anxiety and make changes during changing times. A session of group hypnosis will follow each class. The program will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on June 17 and 24.
Cost is $10 per session. Pre-registration is required.
Alzheimer’s support group
The Center’s alzheimer’s support group will resume meetings at the center every other Tuesday from 3 to 4 p.m. beginning June 29. This professionally led group is for caregivers. For more information, contact facilitator Carolyn Greany at (508) 304-4587.
Elder law consultations with attorney Brandon Walecka are held from 10 to 11 a.m. on the second Thursday of the month by appointment.
Justice Bridge through UMass Law offers free Legal consultations from 2 to 3 p.m. the last Wednesday of the month 2-3
Hearing evaluations and hearing aid checks are available from 10 a.m. to noon the third Thursday of the month. Call the center to schedule an appointment.
The book club meets at 1 p.m. the second Monday of the month. Pre-registration is required. The group will meet indoors, or outdoors if weather permits.
An osteo exercise class will be held from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. Mondays. Call the center the Friday before to pre-register.
Zumba with Michelle
Zumba with Michelle is offered from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays. Cost is $7. Call the Center the Friday before to preregister.
Cam’s body awareness
Cam’s body awareness is held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday and 1 p.m. Fridays. Cost is $2. Call the center to preregister.
Art class with instructor Carol Veiga will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays. Cost is $10. Pre-registration is required.
French conversation and culture
Parlez-vous français? Classes on French conversation and culture will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesdays. Pre-registration is required.
The walking group will travel a route starting and ending at the center at 8:45 a.m. Fridays. To pre-register, call the center.
