Here's what the Council on Aging has planned for March

The Dartmouth Council on Aging will be hosting a full schedule of events and activities this March. Here’s what’s coming up next month.

Pound by Pound support group

For those looking to lose some of their Covid fifteen, dieticians Stephanie Boulay and Katlynn Ferreira will each join participants through Zoom one Wednesday a month for education and encouragement. Contact Nancy at the Center for more information.

Seated Zumba

This class is for beginners who may not feel comfortable with the faced paced steps of Zumba Gold. You can find the class on Dartmouth Community Media Channel 18 listings and on Youtube.

Library to go

Dartmouth Libraries and the COA will now assist with home delivery and pick up of library materials. To get started, call the Southworth Library at (508) 999-0726  or the North Branch Library at (508) 999-0728.

Red Cross blood drive hosted by the Dartmouth Council on Aging

The American Red Cross will host a blood drive at the Dartmouth Council on Aging on Mar. 12, 9 am. to 2 p.m. Appointments can be made in advance by calling 1 (800) 733-2767 or by visiting redcrossblood.org and entering “Dartmouth COA.”

Learn about Medicare options

This informational session is presented on Zoom by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. A representative will be available to answer your questions to make it easier to find the right plan. To sign up, visit well-b.zoom.us/webinar/register/.

Tenants’ Rights During the Pandemic

On Mar. 18, South Coastal Counties Legal Services will be hosting a Zoom presentation for older adults focusing on tenant rights, types of cases they specialize in, and how to access their services. To join the meeting, visit zoom.us/j/93867488507 or go on Zoom and enter meeting ID 938 6748 8587.

For other legal advice,  the COA will host consultations with elder law attorney Brandon Walecka on Mar. 12 from 10 to 11 a.m. by appointment only.

The COA also recommends reaching out to the Justice Bridge Legal Center, a UMass Law affiliate that can be reached by calling (508) 449-9296 or emailing info@justicebridge.org.

Justice Bridge will also hold a clinic on Mar. 31 from 2 to 3 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call the center.

Zoom Room at the Center
