Here's what you missed at the Padanaram Festival

Approximately 50 Southcoast vendors sold clothing, jewelry, and furniture within a quarter-mile stretch of Elm Street during the July 30 Padanaram Festival.

Organizer for the Padanaram Business Association’s yearly event, Linda Hopps called the event a success. “It was pretty steady all day long,” she said. Over 1,000 visitors packed the street to enjoy Chumley’s burgers, a magician dressed as Disney’s Captain Jack Sparrow, and live performances from The Girls Rule Tour.

“My favorite, personally, was the Dancer’s Edge dancers. They were incredible,” said Hopps about the afternoon hip-hop performance by the dance students.

The seven-hour festival started as a sidewalk sale in the late 1970s, said Hopps, who helped found it. Since then, it’s been held yearly on the last Saturday in July.

The Padanaram Business Association also organizes a yearly Christmas festival held on the first Friday of December.
