Historical society releases comprehensive texts on 18th-century Dartmouth Quakers

Nov 30, 2022

The Dartmouth Historical and Arts Society, in collaboration with the Colonial Society of Massachusetts, recently completed work on two new historical volumes that give a window into the early history of the Town of Dartmouth.

The works, titled “The Minutes of the Dartmouth, Massachusetts Monthly Meeting of Friends 1699 - 1785, Volumes I and II,” detail the decisions of the Dartmouth Quakers at an important time in the history of the area.

The works, which transcribe verbatim the original records kept by the Quakers, each number over 800 pages.

The texts have been made available online on the Colonial Society’s website, available here.

Hardcover versions of the volumes will be available soon at local bookstores and libraries.
