A tech-savvy homeowner assisted in the arrest of a man who broke into his home. On Wednesday, November 7 at approximately 6:28 p.m., a homeowner alerted the police about a break-in at his home on Stoneledge Rd. by a man and a woman that he was watching remotely through a home security app.

Officer Jason Arruda watched the video and recognized the man as Michael Fabiano Jr., 28, who lives in New Bedford. Arruda also recognized the SUV in the video, which was a Toyota 4Runner like the one owned by Fabiano.

Later, Detective Keith DaCosta spotted Fabiano walking down Rockdale Ave. As DaCosta approached, Fabiano fled on foot and was taken into custody after a short chase.

Fabiano has been charged with felony breaking and entering, larceny over $1,200 and resisting arrest, as well as with an outstanding arrest warrant for shoplifting.

The female suspect is still unidentified.
