House fire on Wollcott Avenue causes $125,000 in damage
An evening fire left a home on Wollcott Avenue with significant fire, water, and smoke damage on March 17.
Fire District No. 3 crews responded to the structure fire at 2 Wollcott Avenue around 5:59 p.m., said Assistant Chief Ric Bobola.
“When we arrived on scene, there was heavy fire from the back side of the dwelling on the second floor. It was already venting through the roof in that area,” Bobola said.
The fire was called in by a neighbor, and knocked out within 20 minutes, Bobola said. No one was home at the time of the fire, he added.
The second floor of the home sustained fire damage, and the first floor sustained water and smoke damage, Bobola said.
District No. 3 Chief Richard Arruda estimated the damage at $125,000. The $251,900 property is owned by Gillian Lake, according to town records.
The cause is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.
