Police and fire crews are currently investigating the cause of a fire that occurred at an abandoned building on Saturday.

According to Dartmouth Fire District No. 3, a passerby reported seeing a structure fire at 498 Old Westport Road at around 8:21 p.m. By 8:59 p.m., crews were able to get the blaze under control.

A preliminary investigation concluded that fire originated on the south side of the building and the cause was likely intentional. Anyone with any information regarding the fire is encouraged to contact either Fire District No. 3 or Dartmouth Police Det. Kyle Costa.
