It’s official: Dartmouth has a new school superintendent
About a month after the School Committee selected her, Dr. June Saba-Maguire is officially the new Dartmouth Superintendent of Schools.
Kathleen Amaral, School Committee Chair and Dr. Saba-Mcguire signed a contract Thursday April 20. Dr. Saba-Maguire currently serves as assistant superintendent of Brockton Public Schools.
“The Dartmouth School Committee is looking forward to working collaboratively with Dr. Saba-Maguire to continue moving the district forward,’’ according to a statement provided by School Committee vice chair Christopher Oliver.
Her three-year contract will begin July 1, with a starting salary of $200,000, Oliver said.
Dr. Saba-Mcguire will replace long-time superintendent Bonny Gifford, who has retired. James Keily, the district’s assistant superintendent of finance and operations, has been serving as interim superintendent since March 1 and will hold that post until June 30.
The School Committee selected Dr. Saba-Mcguire at their March 27 meeting. She was praised for her stability, having worked her entire career in the Brockton schools, where she was initially hired as a teacher, and the support she received from her colleagues when they were interviewed about her.
