John George ice cream stand returns

Jul 4, 2020

John George Jr.’s well-known ice cream stand is back this summer for the first time in six years, and residents from all walks of life are coming back to try it out.

The stand closed after George, a former Select Board member, was sent to prison for embezzlement in April 2015.

Upon his release last fall, the family business has opened once more, offering nearly 40 different flavors of ice cream, sherbet, and frozen yogurt.

A produce stand selling food grown on the family’s farm has yet to reopen.

“We really liked the ice cream when it was open a few years back,” Dartmouth resident Juliana Sousa said as she enjoyed a dairy free ice cream with her family. “And it’s still good now.”
