Joseph B. Nastanski, 72

Joseph B. Nastanski, 72, of North Dartmouth passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017, surrounded by his family at St. Anne's Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Alison (Goehring) Nastanski, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.

Born in Globe, Arizona, a son of the late Joseph S. Nastanski and Frances (Tabaka) Fetchko, Joseph grew up in Springfield and lived in Dartmouth for the last 36 years.

Mr. Nastanski served in the Air National Guard and attended Western New England College in Springfield. He worked as a mechanical engineer for Chamberlain Manufacturing before becoming disabled.

Joe loved tropical fish and belonged to the Pioneer Valley Aquarium Society where he served as President for one term. He enjoyed spending time gardening and his real joy came from spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Joseph Nastanski and his wife Melissa of Holden; two grandchildren, Cameron and Spencer; his stepmother, Lillian Nastanski of Springfield; a brother, Gerald Nastanski of Pennsylvania; step-sister, Doris Surprenant of Chicopee; two half-brothers, Paul Nastanski of Chicopee and James Nastanski of Springfield; a step-brother, Thomas Fetchko of Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Donald Nastanski and step-brother to the late Glen Surprenant.

His services are all private and under the direction of the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road.
