Learn about local grain at the Grange

Learn about the grain economy and watch a bread-making demonstration at the Dartmouth Grange on Saturday, February 22 at 4 p.m.
 
Baker Jim Amaral and grain expert Doug Mosel will present on the growth of locally grown and processed grain in Maine and California. 
 
Participants will also learn about the Grain School at the School of Adaptive Agriculture, an intensive farming vocational program developed by the California State Grange.
 
There will be more discussion and a community potluck supper to follow at 6:30 p.m. Bring a dish to share at supper.
 
Jim Amaral is the owner/founder of Borealis Breads, a bakery in Maine that relies on locally sourced ingredients and grains grown and processed in Maine.
 
Doug Mosel is the co-founder of the Mendocino Grain Project in California, a system that created a way to offer less-processed grains and flours that are more flavorful, healthier and grown locally in Mendocino County.
