Lego Challenge provides vacation fun

The challenge at the Southworth Library was to build a Lego maze or garden. Eight-year-old Marisa Cabral picked the garden.

“I even put flowers in it,” she said, holding up her creation at the Southworth Library’s Lego Challenge day on April 20.

While most of the children attending the Lego Challenge tried their best to complete the challenge of the day, others let their own creativity guide them, such as six-year-old Callan Bruce. He wasn’t quite sure what he was building as he stuck his bricks together, but hoped to create something interesting in the end.

“It’s fun things for the kids to do while they’re out on April Vacation,” said children's librarian Christie Phillips, who organized the event.

The Lego Challenge was one of several events over the week designed to accommodate kids out of school for April vacation. The library auditorium turned into a game room on April 18 for Board Game Day, and on April 19, kids built robots to create drawings.
