Author Maureen Boyle will give a talk on true crime and her recent books at the Acushnet Library on Wednesday Oct. 12 at 6 p.m.

One such topic will be on the New Bedford Highway Serial Killer, which Boyle wrote about in detail in her 2017 book “Shallow Graves.’

Boyle, an investigative reporter, broke the story in 1988 and stayed with it for decades

From April to September of 1988, 11 young women went missing. Nine bodies were found dumped near highways, with four victims found on or near the Reed Road I-195 exit in Dartmouth.

The others were found in Freetown, Marion, and Westport.

Two missing women were never found.

Boyle will also discuss her 2021 book “The Ghost: The Murder of Police Chief Greg Adams and the Hunt for his Killer.”

The book explores the murder of a small town Pennsylvania police chief and the discovery of his killer’s remains in a quiet Dartmouth neighborhood.

The Acushnet Library is located at 232 Middle Road in Acushnet.
