Linda Jane (Rowbotham) Hatchette, 81
Linda Jane (Rowbotham) Hatchette, 81, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home with her family by her side in Dartmouth, MA on July 4th, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth Hatchette.
She was born on January 24, 1944, to the late Harry & the late Dorothy (Normandin) Rowbotham in New Bedford, MA. She was also the step daughter of the late Doris (Kingsley) Rowbotham.
Linda was raised in Dartmouth, MA, and lived there the majority of her life. She graduated from Dartmouth High School in June of 1962, then went on to Boston’s Burdett College, where she earned a degree in Executive Secretarial Science. Linda was employed by the Harbor Beach Club in Mattapoisett, MA, for several years. She met and married Kenneth in May of 1970. She stayed at home raising their two daughters.
Linda’s radiant spirit was the light of everyone’s life, a truly special soul whose warmth will forever shine in our hearts. She had many hobbies and interests. Every year, she would donate to the children’s ward at the local hospital during the Christmas season. She became an avid skier, boater, and traveler, and visited most of the National Parks in the West. Linda and Ken purchased their first boat and volunteered their time together teaching safe boating classes to the general public. They performed safety patrols in Buzzards Bay under U.S. Coast Guard orders. Linda especially loved spending time with her family, sunny days at the beach, going for a “bite to eat”, celebrating at parties for any occasion, or a trip to the craft store. Her creativity was like no other. She was always immersed in a project, and her hands rarely still. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, painting, puppet making, and crafting all sorts of wonderful oddities, just to name a few. She could imagine an idea and bring it to life, turning anything into a work of art. She found joy in her creative imagination.
Linda is survived by her daughters; Beth (Hatchette) McAlpine of Dartmouth, Dawn (Hatchette) Macomber and her husband David of Milan, New Hampshire. Her grandchildren; Courtney McAlpine and her partner Sean Nunes of New Bedford, Cameron McAlpine of Dartmouth, David Macomber Jr. and his wife Keola Davis of Davenport, Iowa, and her great grandchild, Sofie Davis-Macomber.
