Lloyd Center announces new chair of the board
The Lloyd Center for the Environment unanimously elected Myrna W. Hall chair of the Board of Directors on December 2.
A member of the Board of Directors since 2008, Hall is familiar with the operations of the Lloyd Center, and as chair, will assist in the governance of the organization through its 16-member Board of Directors, said Communications Director JoAnn Bernier Cornell.
Hall currently is an active board member, and sits on the Center’s “Transforming a Legacy” Capital Campaign Steering Committee, as well as other Lloyd Center committees.
Hall brings 15 years of experience serving as the vice president of development and philanthropy at Women and Infants Hospital in Rhode Island. Hall has also served as a board member of Children’s Friend and Service in Providence; board member and president of Women & Infants Hospital Auxiliary in Providence; board member to the Board of Trustees and volunteer at Community Preparatory School in Providence.
Hall's civic accomplishments include tutoring at Community Preparatory School in Providence, Dorcas Place (Adult Literacy) in Providence, and Our Sisters School in New Bedford.
Hall graduated from Saint Mary College in Indiana with a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and a minors in Theology and Philosophy, cum laude. In addition, she studied English and French Graduate Studies at Boston College and Louisiana State University.
George R. Nelson, M.D., served as Chairman of the Board from 2013 to November 2016. Nelson’s wisdom, guidance, and commitment to the Lloyd Center will be missed, said Cornell.
