Lloyd Center to host Owl Prowl
Night owls will soon have an opportunity to meet actual owls.
The Lloyd Center for the Environment is hosting a late-night excursion into the woods on Feb. 7 beginning at 3:30 a.m.
Starting at the Lloyd Center, participants will make several stops along the country roads of South Dartmouth before venturing into the woods in search of owls. Screech, great horned and barred owls are potential species that participants may encounter.
At sunrise, participants will look for other winter birds along the coast.
Coffee will be available at the Lloyd Center at the outing's conclusion.
Participants should bring binoculars, a camera, and a flashlight; wear footwear for light trail walking (possibly on snow), and dress warmly. Participants should be advised that in addition to stormy weather, excessively windy conditions will cause postponement.
Participants are to meet at the Lloyd Center for the Environment’s lower parking lot located at 430 Potomska Road in Dartmouth. The cost of the Center’s Annual Owl Prowl is $9 for Lloyd Center members and $12 for non-members. Space is limited to 20.
