Local students can win $2,000 in eco-art contest

Jan 23, 2023

Bow Seat, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit which uses art to raise awareness of ocean conservation, is accepting entries in its “Climate Heroes in Action” student art contest.

From now until June 13, students between the ages of 11 and 18 worldwide can submit visual art, poetry, spoken word, creative writing, music, dance, film and multimedia creations highlighting the work of an inspirational person who is combating climate change.

One student between the ages of 11 and 14 and another between the ages of 15 and 18 will receive a $1,500 grand prize. That isn’t the only prize up for grabs.

Students who live in Massachusetts can win a $250 Bay State Award, and students who live on the South Coast can win a $250 South Coast, Cape and Island Awards. Three 11-14-year-olds and three 15-18-year-olds will receive the Bay State Awards. Two students in each age group will receive the South Coast, Cape and Islands Award.

Entry is free. For more information, visit http://www.bowseat.org/contest.
