Marijuana retailer to hold outreach meeting for proposed site

Jul 6, 2022

Dartmouth residents next week will have the opportunity to ask questions and voice their opinions about a proposed marijuana retailer on Route 6.

On Wednesday, July 13, Apotho Therapeutics will host a virtual community outreach meeting for its proposed retail site at the former Near East Asian Fusion Restaurant at 747 State Road.

The meeting will begin at 4 p.m.

During the meeting, the owners of the Plainville-based business will conduct a presentation focusing on the proposed site, building security, and how the retailer plans to contribute to the community.

Earlier this year, the Planning Board gave its approval for the site. The business is currently working on drafting a host community agreement — a contract stipulating terms and conditions of operation — that is subject to agreement from the town’s Select Board.

Once the parties have agreed on the terms of that contract, the company will apply to the state Cannabis Control Commission for permission to open.

This past March, the Select Board granted approval for the company to cultivate and manufacture marijuana inside the former Dartmouth Indoor Tennis Club located directly behind the proposed retail site.

If approved, this would be the second marijuana retailer coming to town.

Solar Therapeutics, which was granted its host community agreement last year, is currently in the process of constructing its recreational dispensary on Faunce Corner Road.
