Mark Montigny appointed to leadership positions in state senate
Senator Mark Montigny (D) was appointed to two top leadership positions in the state Senate on February 15. He is now the assistant majority leader and chairman of the Committee on Rules.
Montigny is now one of three assistant majority leaders for the Massachusetts Senate; the other two are Cynthia Creem (D-Newton) and Kenneth Donnelly (D-Arlington). The Senate majority leader is Harriette Chandler (D-Worcester). Majority leaders are elected by their peers to serve as party spokesman/woman on particular issues.
The committee is charged with establishing and recommending policy procedures for the Senate, according to Massachusetts legislature website.
Montigny looks forward to using the positions to continue delivering on his district's priorities, whether that entail budget, capital bonds, or legislation, according to his staff.
Montigny represents the second Bristol and Plymouth District, including Dartmouth, Acushnet, Fairhaven, Mattapoisett, and New Bedford.
