Mary M. (Muldoon) Gaughan, 92, of Dartmouth died peacefully at home on Friday, February 8, 2019.

She was the wife of the late Retired New Bedford Fire Chief Richard T. Gaughan.

Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Patrick J. and Irene K. (Cawley) Muldoon, she had lived in New Bedford until moving to Dartmouth in 1995.

She was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild.

Mrs. Gaughan was formerly employed by New England Telephone Company and the AT&T Phone Center Store.

She was a member of the Telephone Company Pioneers and a former member of the Y.M.C.A., where she participated in aqua aerobics. She loved to travel and enjoyed senior yoga at the New Bedford Senior Center. She also loved watching all Boston sports teams and her beloved Notre Dame.

She is survived by her four children, Kathleen M. "Kathi" Gaughan of Dartmouth; Richard T. Gaughan, Jr. and his wife Janet of Conway, Arkansas; Fr. Thomas E. Gaughan, CSC, of Portland, Oregon; and Patrick J. Gaughan and his wife Valerie of Middleboro; her sister, Irene Dahill of Venice, FL; five grandchildren, PJ, Justin, and Colin Gaughan, and Adam and Matthew Wells; and her great-granddaughter, Luna.

She was the sister of the late Florence C. Muldoon and A. Patricia Travers.

Her funeral will be held on February 14 at 9 a.m. from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford, followed by her funeral mass at St. Julie Billiart Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary’s memory to either Community Nurse Home Care or the St. Julie Billiart Ladies Guild.
