It’s time to meet the Daughters of Liberty face-to-face.
Join the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries on Saturday, Nov. 9 for a first-person performance and multimedia presentation at 2 p.m.
“Abigail Adams and the Daughters of Liberty” is a live performance set in January 1774, one month after the Boston Tea Party.
In the play, Abigail Adams gathers a group of women for a “spinning bee” where they will discuss matters of concern to the colonists while spinning yarn to make fabric.
During the performance, Abigail Adams will also introduce several women to the audience, including historian and author Mercy Otis Warren and poet Phillis Wheatly.
Afterwards there will be an informative presentation providing a close-up look at several members of the Daughters of Liberty and their contributions to the American Revolution.
Carol Cohen, a lifelong academic and published historian, will play Abigail Adams.
The performance and presentation will be at the North Branch Dartmouth Library at 211 Cross Road.
