Meeting Street’s outpatient location in Dartmouth to close after 76 years
After operating in Dartmouth for 76 years, Meeting Street’s outpatient practice in Dartmouth will close on Friday, Dec. 15, according to the organization. The practice is located at One Posa Place.
Meeting Street said the decision is in response to the low reimbursement rates they receive for providing physical, occupational and speech-language therapies on an outpatient basis to children ages 4 to 22.
“The reality is that we have not had a rate increase in 9 years,” the release quoted John M. Kelly, Meeting Street President, as saying. “So we can’t pay our therapists and professionals a wage they deserve and can secure by working for other employers. We simply can’t compete.”
Meeting Street will continue to operate in Greater New Bedford through its other programs, including Early Intervention, Parents as Teachers, its Regional Consultation Program, the Teen Parent Initiative and Welcome Family and The Schwartz School in Dartmouth.
