Myra D. LeValley

Feb 26, 2019

Myra D. LeValley, of Dartmouth, formerly of New Bedford, passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on February 21, 2019.

Born in Fairhaven to Joseph and Anna (Frates) Peters on February 4, 1919, she was a lifelong resident of the New Bedford area. Myra recently celebrated her 100th birthday with beloved family and friends.

She was formerly employed as a housekeeper at Frances P. Memorial Hospital. Upon retiring in 1982, she found great joy as a foster grandparent at PACE Headstart and St. Luke’s Hospital Lumbard Ward for 25 years.

A devout Catholic, Myra was a parishioner of St. Lawrence Church and enjoyed frequent visits to Our Lady’s Chapel in New Bedford.

Myra loved nature and was a member of the Audubon Society. She was quietly independent and enjoyed the simple things in life. She looked forward to chatting with friends on Fridays at Honey Dew with her son Paul, shopping at local stores, and afternoon visits and tea with longtime family friend, Nancy. Myra will be greatly missed by her family and all those whose lived she touched.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Ray LeValley; son, Leonard; sisters, Mary Wentworth, Doreen Broughton, and Barbara Mello; and brother William Peters.

She is survived by her daughter, Anne LeValley-Tremblay; her sons, Paul and wife Lori, Thomas and wife JoLene, and Raymond; her brother, Joseph Peters; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Her memorial mass will be March 4 at 9 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted.
