Natalie (Paixao) Souza, 98, of South Dartmouth, died Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Hathaway Manor following a period of declining health. She was the widow of David P. Souza, Jr. and daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline (Louro) Paixao.

Born in Batalha, Portugal, Mrs. Souza resided in South Dartmouth for many years and was a parishioner of St. Mary Church.

She was employed as a hairstylist and then assisted her husband in the family business, David P. Souza Electrical Contracting Company.

Mrs. Souza was a long time member of the Country Club of New Bedford and The United Portuguese Women's Club.

Over the years, Mrs. Souza supported many worthy causes that were dear to her heart.

She had a close relationship with her granddaughter, Danielle who was the light of her life. Danielle considered her grandmother to be a second mother to her and they shared many beautiful times together.

Her family includes her beloved granddaughter, Danielle Paige Souza of New Bedford; her grandson, Liam Roy Santos of New Bedford; her daughter-in-law and caregiver for many years, Cheryl A. Santos and her husband, Roy D. Santos of New Bedford; 2 nephews, Gary and Jeffrey Oliveira and several great-nieces.

She was the mother of the late David P. Souza and sister of the late Hilda P. Silva and Estrella Oliveira and sister-in-law of the late Americo "Mac" Silva and Sylvester "Sy" Oliveira.

Visiting hours in the funeral home Tuesday, February 4, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. Her funeral will be conducted on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at 9:45 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated in St. Mary Church, South Dartmouth at 11 a.m. Interment in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
