Padanaram Harbor has been named the best harbor in the Northeast in 2021 by US Harbors.

This marks the third consecutive placement for Padanaram Harbor in the contest. The South Dartmouth harbor was named Best Harbor overall in 2019 and dropped to the runner-up category in 2020.

The regional category, which Padanaram won, is a new one this year.

People cast online votes for 335 different locations among the 1,400 harbors for which US Harbors provides coastal weather, tides and boating and fishing information, according to information provided by US Harbors. 

Padanaram and the other regional winners will receive commemorative plaques recognizing their achievement. An online ceremony will be conducted June 22 to honor the winners. 

The 2021 grand winner was Charlevoix, Mich. 

In addition to Padanaram, regional winners were Depoe, Ore., which earned the overall title last year,; Oyster Bay, N.Y.; Hilton Head, S.C. and Englewood/Lemon Bay, Fla.

Finalists were: Harbor Springs, Mich.; Beaver Island, Mich.; Onset Beach, Mass.; Red Brook Harbor,  Mass.; and Princeton/Pillar Point Harbor, Calif.
