Paper shredding day scheduled Oct. 2

Sep 20, 2021

A fall paper shredding day, held in partnership with the Town of Dartmouth, will take place from 9 a.m. to noon (or until the shred truck is full) Saturday, Oct. 2 at New Bedford High School, 230 Hathaway Boulevard, New Bedford at the Parker Street entrance.

This will be a contactless event and there is no residency requirement.

When participants reach the shred truck, staff will remove boxes from the trunk of their vehicles, empty them into a recycle bin, and return boxes to participants. The recycle bin is emptied into a truck from Shred-it, which is certified by the National Association for Information Destruction and adheres to stringent security practices and procedures.

Individuals may bring up to two boxes of paper. Each box should weigh no more than 40 pounds. Paper clips and staples do not need to be removed, but paper should be removed from folders and binders. The shredded paper will be recycled into new products such as paper towels.

The event is sponsored by New Bedford Credit Union. In addition to the Town of Dartmouth, partners include the City of New Bedford, the Town of Fairhaven, and the Greater New Bedford Regional Refuse Management District.
