Paskamansett Bird Club to include photography tips at next meeting

Oct 25, 2016

The Paskamansett Bird Club’s November meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, at the Community Hall of Friends Meeting, 739 Horseneck Road. Geoff Dennis will present some of his recent bird photos, and discuss the methods he uses to capture images.

Dennis began photographing birds in his yard as a hobby, primarily to document uncommon birds he occasionally observed. His photos attracted attention, and he now provides photographs for three major bird feeder companies. In his yard, Geoff has observed more than 180 species of birds including Rhode Island’s first Rufous Hummingbird. Some of his work is currently in use by The Nature Conservancy of RI, RI Audubon, US Fish and Wildlife, and Cornell University’s online Birds of North America. He lives in Little Compton, RI with his wife Emily and works as a commercial fisherman.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Dartmouth Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. The meeting is free, open to the public, and accessible.
