In-person meetings to resume at Town Hall

Feb 28, 2022

After nearly two years of being held virtually, municipal meetings will be returning to Town Hall in March.

The Select Board voted unanimously on Feb. 28 to allow boards and committees to return to in-person meetings beginning in March.

“I think it’s time to start meeting in person,” Board Chair Shawn McDonald said. “We should start seeing each other again.”

The decision comes as new cases of Covid-19 decline across town

Vice Chair David Tatelbaum said while he was in favor of the return, he wants to ensure all boards are back for the sake of consistency.

McDonald noted that this change in meeting structure can only apply to “boards that are under our jurisdiction.”

Elected boards and committees can continue to conduct meetings via Zoom if they so choose.

Some, such as the Parks and Recreation Board and School Committee, have been holding in-person meetings since last year.

The Planning Board, meanwhile, still meets via Zoom. It is unclear if they will decide to change that.

Under the state’s Covid guidelines, masks will not be required while at Town Hall, but are encouraged.

The Select Board will hold its first in-person meeting on March 14.

“So wear your best duds,” McDonald said to his fellow board members.
