Fire District No. 1's call firefighers Al DeMelo and Skott Rebello were doing equipment maintenance on July 19, including greasing the ladder on one of the trucks so it would unfold and collapse more efficiently.

Before taking a ride up in the bucket, DeMelo and Rebello had to use a built-in level—located in the back of the truck—to stabilize the vehicle on four feet that jut out from its body. The tower fully extends 90 feet, although Rebello didn't go that high up. Here's what he saw:
