Police arrest suspect involved in stolen vehicle crash
A 20-year-old man is facing charges after crashing a stolen vehicle in the area of 576 High Hill Road in Dartmouth on Saturday, April 26 after 2 p.m.
After crashing the Dodge Charger, Evan Gonzalez fled on foot, but was later captured by Dartmouth Police who set up a perimeter to search the area.
While responding to the scene, Freetown Police informed the Dartmouth department that officers in their town had attempted a stop, but Gonzalez allegedly refused to stop.
According to police, further investigation revealed the charger had been previously reported stolen out of New Bedford.
Upon arrest, Gonzalez was transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries that were sustained during the crash. Once released, he was processed at Dartmouth Police Headquarters and transported to the Ash Street House of Correction to await bail.
Dartmouth Police are charging Gonzalez with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and speeding.
