Police identify suspect in high school bomb threat

Apr 16, 2019

Dartmouth Police have identified a suspect believed to have written the bomb threat in a bathroom at Dartmouth High School on Friday, March 1.

At around 10:30 that morning, a student discovered a threat in one of the stalls of a women’s room indicating that a bomb would be going off in the school.

The student reported the threat and Dartmouth Police responded along with other agencies, and determined that there was no bomb in the school.

Students sheltered in place for approximately two hours after the threat was first discovered.

Dartmouth Police Detectives used video footage provided by the School Department to find and interview several female students who used the restroom during the timeframe in which the threat was written. As a result, a juvenile female confessed to writing the threat.

Because she is underage, the name of the suspect is not being released. Criminal charges against the suspect are pending, and the school has been notified so that appropriate administrative action can be considered.
