Potter students welcome spring with scavenger hunts, dance, and Disney riddles

What does Disney hero Moana need to stop the evil Tamatoa? For a room filled with Potter Elementary students, the answer was a no-brainer.

Although turnout was lower than expected at the PTO’s annual Spring Fling — which PTO President Tara Rose chalked up to the nice weather — about 15 families still celebrated spring with trivia, games, and dance on April 28.

In addition to the trivia competition, families competed in a musical-chairs-meets-scavenger-hunt style game. Students searched for hidden items, such as coins, around the cafeteria, and raced back to the shrinking number of chairs before time ran out. Students earned bonus points for tossing hula hoops along the way.

“It’s about getting the families out and interacting,” said Rose, although the PTO events do double as a fundraiser.

Other PTO-hosted events include bingo night, a Halloween party, and paint nights, said Rose. Monies raised fund enrichment activities for students, including field trips, books, playground equipment, and special events.

Still stumped? Moana needs a magical fish hook to defeat Tamatoa.
