Public Works moves forward with Cross Road improvements project
The proposed Cross Road improvement project, which will address the road’s drainage issue, improve the roadway edge and construct new sidepaths, is moving a step forward.
On Thursday, March 27, the Board of Public Works approved an amendment to move the project into the next phase.
This phase will take the project to its 75% design mark and will include utility coordination, cross section designs, construction plans, grading, drainage, water supply, traffic management and control and a preliminary right of way plan.
It will also resolve any comments, including ones made by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, that were raised during a public hearing on Dec. 11, 2024.
It will cost $148,100 to complete this phase, with the funds coming out of the department’s road maintenance funds, said Public Works Director Tim Barber.
Upon completion, the department will need to file environmental permits, finalize the design and secure a right of way, and advertise the project, which has a projected start date of 2029.
