The Paskmansett Slab Tractor Pullers celebrated its first year of competition with an awards banquet on Saturday, Feb. 22.

First place for those 12 years and under went to Logan Greenwood, with Levi Greenwood and Khloe Costa receiving second and third.

For ages 13 to 18, Shelby Tripp-Isidore took first place, followed by Mason Greenwood and Morgan Tripp-Isidore in second and third.

Zac Greenwood took first place for those 18 and older, with Jermie Mathias, Derek Borden and Andy Costa all tied for second.

At the end of last year, the community helped pull the funds together for a new slab that was installed at the Paskamanset Beagle Club for all the competitions.

Competitors are tasked with pulling a large tractor in addition to weight that is added in 200 pound increments. The tractors have to pull it 10 feet each time.

The next competitive season will kick off on Sunday, April 13 and the rest as follows: May 18, June 29, July 13, August 24, September 21 and October 26.
