Quinn Elementary participates in lip sync show

Quinn Elementary School fifth graders traded in their pencils for microphones and took to the stage for the school’s annual lip sync show on June 20.

Scheduled for the second to last day of the school year, the show gave Quinn’s outgoing fifth grade class one final big event to remember elementary school. It’s a strictly fun event with no competitive elements, explained Assistant Principal Audra Thomas. Despite that, students still take the annual show very seriously.

“We have three practices in school, but students practice at home on the weekends with friends too,” Thomas said.

Students were given two minutes for their performance, which could also include props and costumes. The show included surprise performances by fifth grade teachers dressed as trolls performing “Can’t Stop This Feeling” and administrative and outreach staff donning walkers and canes for a rendition of “Single Ladies.”

“The kids loved seeing the staff get involved,” Thomas said, adding that the final performance by the administrative and outreach staff was the biggest hit of the day.

The performances were held twice on June 20, once in the morning and once in the afternoon, to accommodate parents and students from other grade levels.
