The quirkiest items found at this weekend's yard sales
June 25 overflowed with rare items and keepsakes thanks to the Habitat for Cats and Dartmouth Council on Aging.
The Habitat for Cats—a local organization that gets feral cats their immunizations before releasing them back into the wild—hosted a yard sale at Smith Mills Congregational Church. One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale went back into the program, helping the 40 cats at their sanctuary, the 20 kits in the adoption center, and the 50 cats in foster care.
The sale had many kitty-themed goods, but buyers also found an eclectic home goods and a jewelry table run by Sheryl Demello, a former volunteer who focuses on trap-neuter-release.
The Council on Aging hosted a flea market at their 628 Dartmouth Street location. It raised profits from the vendors who had set up booths of antiques and homemade crafts.
Crafters like Dariti Peterson and her mother Wendy Spielman sold not only crocheted stuffed animals, but also crocheted characters from Doctor Who and Harry Potter. Peterson also makes house banners.
Below are the quirkiest items available during Saturday's thrifting.
