Rivals Dartmouth High, Bishop Stang to clash in hockey semi final
Crosstown rivals Dartmouth High and Bishop Stang will face off in the boys’ hockey state tournament semi-final at Bourne’s Gallo Arena on March 5.
Both teams entered the tournament with a bye in the preliminary round, and made it through their quarter final matches on March 1 with comfortable wins.
The fourth-seeded Dartmouth defeated twelfth seed Martha’s Vineyard 7-1, while ninth-seeded Bishop Stang upset first seed Hopkinton’s hopes at the title with a 5-2 victory at Canton Ice House.
During the regular season, Bishop Stang and Dartmouth played two rivalry games with opposite results.
At the annual Holiday Tournament on December 27, Dartmouth beat the Spartans 5-0. But more recently, on February 12, the Catholic school came back to defeat Dartmouth’s Indians 4-0.
Dartmouth currently holds a 2019-2020 season record of 16-3-1, while Bishop Stang’s stands at 10-5-5.
The semi-final will take place at 7:45 p.m. on March 5 at the Gallo Arena, 231 Sandwich Rd., Buzzards Bay, Bourne.
