Road rage incident on Labor Day Weekend

Dartmouth Police arrested a Virginia man on Faunce Corner Road at around 8 p.m. on Saturday night after he allegedly threatened another driver with a handgun.

According to a press release issued by the police department, officers were dispatched to the area after a woman called them alleging the driver of a dark pickup truck had pointed a gun at her while they were stopped at the traffic lights near Shaw’s on State Road.

Officer Alec Grant found the truck and driver on Faunce Corner Road near Lowe’s.

The driver was identified as Michael Couture, 56, of Hampton, Virginia.

During their investigation police found a loaded 9 mm Ruger handgun inside the truck as well as an open bottle of alcohol and several other empty bottles and cans of alcohol.

Couture was arrested by officer Darren Emond and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, improper storage of a firearm, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating under the influence of liquor (second offense), and possession of an open container of alcohol inside of a vehicle.

No one was injured as a result of this incident.
