Robert A. Wunschel, 79, of North Dartmouth passed away Sunday, March 29, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford after a two year battle with ALS. He was the husband of nearly 57 years to Patricia A. (Koczwara) Wunschel.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late William and Louise (Sylvia) Wunschel, he grew up in Acushnet and settled in Dartmouth 51 years ago. Bob attended New Bedford Vocational High School and in 1959 left school and joined the Navy. After four years of active service and two years inactive he returned home.

He had worked at Revere Copper and Brass and in 1981 he applied for, and got the job as Welding Instructor at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Tech. While at Voke, Bob coached JV Soccer and retired in 2002.  He was an avid golfer and an active member of 42 years of the Reservation Golf Course where he served on the Board of Directors for 13 years. He enjoyed keeping busy building and fixing things and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and his granddog Lexi.

He is survived by his wife Pat; children, Michael Wunschel and his wife Janine and Michelle Manchester and her husband Craig all of Dartmouth; two grandchildren; Aaron and Elizabeth Stauffer;  two brothers, William Wunschel, Jr. of Middleboro and Donald Wunschel and his wife Pat of Fairhaven; sisters-in-law, Cynthia Koczwara and Diane Percey of FL; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was the brother of the late Margaret Hurteau, Claire Ellis, Patricia, Thomas and Gerald Wunschel.
