Dartmouth Public School will be cancelled on Thursday, Dec. 17 for a snow day, while the Department of Public Works sent out a notice advising residents that some on-street parking is banned, trash pickup will be delayed, and the transfer station will be closed due to an expected storm.

A winter storm warning for the area will remain in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday through 1 p.m. on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The warning notes that wind gusts up to 45 mph and six to 11 inches of snow are expected during the storm, with hazardous conditions expected to down tree branches and freeze roads.

Thursday’s trash pickup will be moved to Friday, and residents who normally park on the street are asked to park on the non-hydrant side (if there are no hydrants, they should park on the side with even-numbered houses.)

Those who must travel during the storm should keep a flashlight, food, and water in the car in case of emergency, the Weather Service advisory stated.
