Jul 26, 2016

South Coast artists are opening their studios for a public tour during the ART Drive on Saturday, August 6 and Sunday, August 7, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Thirty-four art studios in Dartmouth and Westport will be open to the public to tour and sample local works. Artists are asked to donate between five to 10 percent of proceeds from sales made during the ART Drive to the Lloyd Center for the Environment.

In addition to the open studios, several studios will offer demonstrations and discussions. Saturday’s scheduled events include a presentation on taking better iPhone photos by fine art photographer Deb Ehrens at 11 a.m., an insight into metal artwork with metal artist Kirt Rebello at 1 p.m., and a presentation on using imagination to expand creativity by painter Nancy Hayes at 3 p.m.

Sunday’s list of events includes a discussion on glass fusing and firing by glass artist Barbara Purdy at 1 p.m., and a tutorial on air watercoloring by painter Peggy Call-Conley at 3 p.m.

The ART Drive is supported by grants from the Dartmouth Cultural Council and the Westport Cultural Council, and a donation from the Helen E. Ellis Charitable Trust.
