St. Peter’s ‘The Bridge’ to get award for providing mental health services

Dec 30, 2022

Dartmouth’s St. Peter’s Episcopal Church has been named by Massachusetts General Hospital as the recipient of its 2023 "Spirit of Compassion Award."

The award, given annually by the hospital’s Endowment for the Advancement of Psychotherapy, highlights people and organizations whose work contributes to progress in awareness, health promotion, prevention and effective treatment for children and adults affected by mental health challenges throughout the commonwealth.

In particular, Mass General plans to honor the Dartmouth church’s Bridge: A Center for Hope and Healing “in the underserved southeastern region of the state.”

According to Rev. Scott Ciosek, who serves as executive director of the Bridge, the mission of the church’s counseling center is “to provide clients with an opportunity to make lasting changes in their lives.”

In a letter to the church, the Awards Subcommittee praised the center for not only providing care for the whole person,  but promoting “access to better mental health for all peoples.”

The award will be presented at the hospital’s annual Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Case Conference, on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, 9 a.m. to 12:30pm. The presentation will be conducted virtually.
