State championship hopes end for girls soccer

The Dartmouth High School’s girls soccer team will not continue to the final of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament after losing the semi-final match on November 11 against Medway.

The fifth-seeded team squared off against eighth-seeded Medway at Oliver Ames school in Easton for a hard-fought Veterans Day game.

After 80 minutes, the teams were tied 1-1 when the whistle blew and in overtime Medway managed to convert a penalty kick, giving them the win and moving the team on to the South division finals.

Medway will face the second seed, Holliston, on November 17.

“It’s been a pretty special season,” said head coach Scot Boudria before the game, adding that the team has a “strong core” of “very talented players.”

And with only a handful of seniors on the team, many of the players will be returning next year.
