Last Friday, July 12 the Schwartz School at Meeting Street had a special guest: Massachusetts State Senator Michael Rodrigues, who came to read to students at the school.

Rodrigues represents the first Bristol and Plymouth district in the Massachusetts Senate.

“It was a pleasure to host Massachusetts Senator Rodrigues as he read to some of the student at the Schwartz School,” said Assistant Director of Special Education at Meeting Street Katelyn Champine. “Students (and staff) were delighted with his rendition of Pete the Cat.”

“As part of Schwartz School’s Literacy Month, we also have planned visits from Miss Massachusetts and Meeting Street President John Kelly, in addition to many friends and family members that so generously donate their time to read with our students,” she continued.

The Schwartz School is a year-round, private special education school for students with severe or profound disabilities.

It currently serves 35 students with a variety of needs and abilities.

During the entire month of July the school’s students and staff are celebrating Literacy Month.

Families, friends, and community members are invited to come in and read.
