State tightens water use recommendations due to drought
The state department of Energy and Environmental affairs has announced a drought warning for select areas of Massachusetts, and further tightened its water use recommendations.
With below average rainfall and extended warm weather, northeast, central, and southeast Massachusetts, including Dartmouth, outdoor water use should be eliminated as of September 1, said state officials.
The state continues to monitor and assess the drought situation, and its environmental and agricultural impacts. Officials ask that the public be mindful of the amount of water they are using to ensure essentials such as drinking water, fire protection, and crop hydration met.
The recommendation will remain in effect until water levels return to normal in the affected regions.
