Stephanie A. Garnett, 40

Apr 26, 2020

Stephanie A. Garnett, 40, of New Bedford passed away suddenly on Monday April 20, 2020.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of Sherie Barmer of Dartmouth and the late Steven Garnett, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.

Stephanie was a happy positive person and continued to put that energy forward even after losing her son Masyn 18 months ago. She was strong, loving, fiercely dedicated and protective of her family. She could light up a room and get everyone to have a good time. She loved hanging out with her friends. She was loved by many.

Stephanie worked at Comprehensive Mental Health Systems, Inc. in Dartmouth for ten years as a residential director. She was fondly known as “Piffy.” She was devoted to her team and the individuals whom she supported. She was truly dedicated to her work. Stephanie will be dearly missed by her family and lifelong friends. The only solace right now is knowing that she has been reunited with her son Masyn.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her son, Devyn A. Garnett of Dartmouth; her brother, Steven Garnett and his wife Ashley and their children, Savana, Trinity, and Tyler of Jacksonville, N.C.; her grandmother, Elaine Barmer of New Bedford; Masyn’s father, Robert Bleheen and his family of New Bedford; her uncle and Godfather, Mark Barmer and his family of Colorado; her aunt and Godmother, Lynn Garnett and her family of Dartmouth; her stepfather, William Blackburn of New Bedford; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends.

She was the granddaughter of the late Raymond and Lydia Garnett.

A memorial service for the family will be held at a later time when the current social gathering ban is lifted. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to New England Donor Services, 60 First Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
