Summer events at the library
Guest author.
Dartmouth author Holly Fitzgerald will return to Southworth Library to present a slide show and talk about her book, "Ruthless River: Love and Survival by Raft on the Amazon’s Relentless Madre de Dios," on August 4 at 6 p.m.
In the book, Fitzgerald recounts the harrowing circumstances faced by her and her husband in 1973, while on a honeymoon trip around the world. When the plane they were in crash-landed, the two set out on a journey that would result in them struggling to stay alive. Pre-register for the program by calling (508) 999-0726. Copies of the book are available for a $15.00 donation to the Dartmouth Library Foundation. The Foundation will also provide a large, heavy-duty canvas book bag with each book.

Summer reading clubs.
Adults and teens are welcomed to participate in the libraries’ summer reading clubs. There are no meetings and no assigned books. Participants keep track of time spent reading or listening to audiobooks, and mark the minutes on cards provided by the library. For every six hours of reading, participants earn a chance to win gift certificates from local businesses.
